Crohn's Disease
Added to TX CUP: 2021
Diagnosis Context
Crohn’s Disease is a chronic relapsing-remitting inflammatory bowel disease that can affect any segment of the gastrointestinal tract. Diagnosis is established by a gastroenterologist using endoscopic, histologic, and imaging evidence.
CUP Eligibility
Crohn’s Disease is on the Texas Compassionate Use Program’s current list of qualifying diagnoses under the inflammatory bowel disease scope.
Evidence Base for Low-THC Therapy
In IBD care, cannabinoid discussion most often addresses pain, nausea, appetite, and sleep — and less consistently, inflammation itself. Texas’s CUP authorizes only low-THC products under a statutory cap. The certifying physician will discuss what the literature supports and what it does not, in the context of your current treatment regimen.
